Hujayra tirik organizmlarning eng kichik va asosiy funksional birligi sifatida, barcha biologik jarayonlarning markaziy obyekti hisoblanadi. Shu sababli hujayra biologiyasi nafaqat umumiy biologiya va zoologiya, balki molekulyar biologiya, genetik muhandislik, tibbiyot va biotexnologiya sohalarida ham katta ahamiyatga ega.
Cell biology is one of the fundamental and modern branches of biology that studies the structure, functions, development, and molecular mechanisms of cells. As the smallest and most functional unit of all living organisms, the cell is the central object of all biological processes. Therefore, cell biology is crucial not only for general biology and zoology but also for molecular biology, genetic engineering, medicine, and biotechnology. Cell biology covers the morphology of cells, cytoplasmic organelles, nuclear activity, cell membrane and transport systems, energy metabolism (mitochondria, chloroplasts), the cell cycle, division processes (mitosis and meiosis), signaling pathways, and cell death mechanisms (apoptosis). Moreover, cell biology enables the analysis of cellular causes of diseases, genetic disorders, cancer, and viral or bacterial infections at the molecular level.
