Аннотация

Reading fiction offers more than just an escape into imaginary worlds—it plays a crucial role in enhancing empathy and communication skills. Through immersive storytelling, fiction allows readers to step into the lives of diverse characters, fostering perspective-taking and a deeper understanding of emotions. This exposure to various human experiences promotes emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate complex social interactions. Moreover, fiction strengthens communication skills by enriching vocabulary, improving storytelling techniques, and encouraging active listening. Studies suggest that reading literary fiction, in particular, enhances the reader’s ability to understand others' feelings and intentions, thereby strengthening both verbal and non-verbal communication. By engaging with fiction, readers develop a greater capacity for empathy and become more effective communicators in their personal and professional lives. This article explores the cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of reading fiction and underscores its importance as a tool for personal growth and social connection.
