Abstract

This article explores the development of the gig economy in Uzbekistan, analyzing its key factors, opportunities, and challenges within the context of the country's economic environment. The gig economy, which is based on short-term, temporary, and freelance jobs, is becoming increasingly prevalent in Uzbekistan due to the growing demand for flexible working conditions, technological advancements, and the expansion of digital platforms. The article discusses how the gig economy has provided new employment opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs, but also highlights the challenges faced by gig workers, including the lack of social protection and income inequality. Through a review of global trends and local experiences, the article provides recommendations for developing a supportive legal framework, enhancing education and skill development, and fostering the growth of local gig economy platforms. The article concludes that with the right policies and investments, Uzbekistan can harness the potential of the gig economy as a driver of economic growth and social change.
