Abstract

Language contact plays a crucial role in shaping linguistic ecologies, particularly in an era marked by globalization, migration, and digital advancements. This article explores the intricate relationship between linguistic ecology and language contact, shedding light on the ecological shifts that occur when languages interact. By examining sociolinguistic, political, and technological influences, this paper illustrates how language convergence, divergence, and extinction take place in different settings. Through a discussion of case studies and potential strategies, we highlight the need for proactive efforts to mitigate language loss and promote linguistic diversity.
