The acquisition and teaching of foreign languages has been a central focus of research in applied linguistics, cognitive psychology, and education for decades. This article examines the scientific principles underlying foreign language teaching,
exploring key theories, methodologies, and empirical findings that have shaped language instruction practices. We review cognitive, social, and communicative approaches to language acquisition, with an emphasis on their practical applications in
the classroom. Furthermore, the article discusses the role of technology and instructional design in enhancing the language learning process. Finally, we highlight future directions for research in language teaching and the integration of neuroscientific insights into pedagogical practices.
