Abstract

Abstract:Modal verbs are like the most crucial parts of English grammar. They
do not describe and show actions themselves, but instead modal verbs add meaning to
other verbs. The modal verbs express things such as: necessity, possibility, permission,
obligation,  and  suggestion.  Some  learners  have  challenges  while  learning  and
differentiating them. This article will explain and clarify modal verbs by explaining
their  different  functions,  and  providing  practical  and  effective  examples  to  assist
teachers and students use them confidently.
